PONTE VEDRA BEACH, FLA., June 22, 2026. At Black Pearl in the Palm Valley area of Ponte Vedra Beach, the most personal seat in the house holds only eight guests. Blackpearl Omakase is a dedicated chef's counter where a seasonal Edomae tasting unfolds one course at a time, led by Michelin starred Chef Wei Chen.

Edomae refers to the Tokyo style of sushi that prizes careful sourcing, restrained seasoning, and a rhythm set by the chef rather than the guest. At Black Pearl, that approach is reserved for the counter, where the small seat count lets the kitchen pace each course and speak directly with the people in front of it.

Why only eight seats

The size is the point. With eight places, the tasting can stay deliberate, the fish can be cut to order, and the chef can read the room and adjust. It is a different night from the main dining room, built for guests who want to follow a single arc from the first bite to the last.
